I will be driving from Edinburgh to Devon from Wednesday PM May 09 to Friday evening May 11 — it would be great to meet one or more of the UK forum members for tea along the way. If this might work out for any or you, please PM or reply to this thread. Thanks!

Hi Al, I'l be traveling by teeny tiny modern. Its a pleasure journey — I'll be picking up my bride at Heathrow Sunday May 13 and we will meander north to Edinburgh area for a family wedding on May 19. I fly home May 20, Lady Michelle follows a couple days later.

Not sure yet of the exact itinerary, but want to visit an outfit in Cardiff on the Friday AM. There will be various folks I can visit, seeing I have the old Mopar affliction, the Model T affliction, the LaFrance affliction... Saturday May 12 I am attending the VSCC Wiscombe Hill Climb in Devon.

I had the great pleasure of visiting York twice for a week each time. I cannot imagine a better place to tour. I couldn't see it all in two weeks. I absolutely love the place. The museums, the minsteris aweinspiring, even Clifford's tower was pretty cool. The old St. Mary's and the shambles, Geez, I could go on forever. Stayed at a place called The Apple House just out side Micklegate. Man, do I want to go back.. Oh, and the National Railway Museum!!

There's a Chrysler airflow taxi in the Railway museum. The most fascinating triangular diesel engine also. Napier Deltic. If you get bored in York, its because you are dead.

Niel,Are you by chance a travel agent? You almost have me convinced to book a trip to York.:)

No, I'm not. I am sure you would be happy to see the place. Its real England, not the tourist version, and the people are as friendly as they can be.

I spose I could do a commercial for York tourism. Its a most likeable place.

...On my "bucket list" :)

Thanks for the travel suggestions. I think I visited York about 35 years ago on my own — Lady Michelle and I may pay another visit next month.

What time will you be at Heathrow on 13th?

And where will you be heading from there?

I'm not too far away from there, in West London, so maybe I can bring my P15 out to meet you somewhere?

In any case, have a good trip.

Robin.

Robin, the Lady Michelle at arrives into Heathrow at 11:10 AM on Sunday May 13. I would be delighted to meet you nearby or towards Chichester for breakfast. We are not sure about our plans for the afternoon, but it won't likely be London. Or Mopar.

Tommy, I see you are only 75 miles away from Heathrow. Maybe we could make it a threesome for breakfast with Robin? I'm pretty flexible about location as long as I can get to LHR by 11:30. By the way, Michelle and I had a great weekend in your neighborhood in Sept 2008 at the Blues at the Fort festival in Havant. It was a real thrill to see The Animals perform House of the Rising Sun (I think this is them in the photo).

I used to go to an underground climbing wall at Fort Purbrook and the Solent renegades have their annual car show at Fort Nelson, cool old buildings!

Heathrow is 1 1/4 hours from Chichester on a sensible day and it would be good to meet Robin, I've seen his car a bunch of times but never him!

If you can get to Chichester we could get breakfast at Goodwood historic motor circuit? Also the Victory wheelers are having their annual reunion meet at Hayling island on the 13th, might not be many there before you have to be airport bound mind.

Sounds great to me. Robin?

I was thinking of Brooklands as it's quite near to Heathrow.

But I guess it depends on what time BamfordsGarage will have to leave for the airport.

I just checked Brooklands diary and there's a new event on that day...

Brooklands sounds cool, have wanted to check it out for ages. Frustratingly I won't be able to be out long enough to make it there and back on the 13th.

Keep me informed with the tour route though.

Oops. Sorry. Got my dates confused...

Me too. All this time I've been planning around a Saturday May 12th event in Devon and suddenly realized it is on the Sunday and ending several hours after I am to meet my beloved at Heathrow.

However, Lady Michelle suggested I carry on with the Devon event and drive to London that evening — she'll go directly to the hotel and rest up after the all-night flight from Western Canada. Such a wonderful gal.

Robin and Tommy, I'm still hoping to get together with you guys somewhere along the line, perhaps a supper break as I drive east. I'll be in touch as the day gets nearer. Robin, since you are in west London, maybe it could be a late breakfast or lunch on the Monday. In the meantime, could you folks please PM me with your e-mail and telephone numbers. Thanks.
