what is this nose emblem for?

From ebay, Dodge Truck NOSE EMBLEM W/GOOD STUDS 1951 51 1952 52 1953 53 Nice Used

I was going to buy it because mine is beat up but it doesn't look like mine.

Where this one is red mine is open & the body paint shows thru.

I also wonder if it will fit my 53, I like the red , it'll set off the job rated nose piece & the red pinstripe on tailgate.

Moose, I've got the same one as listed in the auction that came with my 52. I've seen one of each style that that I pulled off my 51 and 52 parts trucks. I'm assuming that they were original. Mike

The ebay emblem is 51-52. Moose, you have the correct 53 emblem already on your truck. On the 53 emblem, I've seen the horizontal bars between the letters occasionally painted red...don't know if that's "original" or not.

mine had traces of red paint in the "holes" of the letters and on the bars. So I'd say that was original.

the emblem in the auction will not line up with the holes on the front of your truck. the holes for the 53 emblem are more widely spaced than those for 51-52.

I may paint the bars on mine red however.
