It doesn't show any signs of adhesive, but take a look at the pictures below. The first is of how i tried taking it off with the screwdrivers on either side. The second shows a cap lookin' thing (black arrow) is this just part of the needle? Or does it actually act like a cap preventing the needle from coming off the shaft?

Move the left screwdriver down to 6 o'clock and the right up to 12 o'clock. Twist if you're not.

Don't know about the 'cap'. Looks like a detail in the needle.

I have a different style needle if you end up needing it:

Okay thanks for the help, im going to try that tomorrow and see how it works. I like that needle, if this one ends up getting all screwed up I'll take one of those.

Its just not budging i moved the screwdrivers to the position you recommend and twisted. All that's happening is the needles getting all bent out of shape, literally.

That's REALLY odd. It should just pop off.

Maybe set it on it's face and give it some PB Blaster?

That was my next idea too, PB Blaster sure does work miracles. Hopefully then i can coax it off! :D

It sure does. Have you ever tried Zep Twister? That stuffs great too works better than PB in my opinion, but its also more expensive that's its only draw back.

No, I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

OK. I feel your pain. I just tried to take one off and I can't.

Don't get it.

I soaked mine with PB and let it sit and still cant get it off. At this point i don't care if the needle gets destroyed, i just want it off. Then i can get the decals and needle from you. I need to think of other ways to get it...

I got it!!!

I held the piece that the needle shaft attaches to that goes inside the round magnet halves and started rotating the needle back and forth. It popped off. :P

The good news is the needles are very soft. If you haven't damaged yours too badly, you should be able to straighten it out.

Yup they sure are very soft, and I've bent mine quite a bit. I straightened it back out but it looks terrible so i think i may be in need of a new one, as soon as i can get the old one off.

So i continued on trying to get the speedo needle off last night and really screwed things up. I started rotating the needle to see if i could break it loose from the shaft and the small spring (looks like a coiled piece of wire), that's directly behind the face of the speedo got deformed. Now when i rotate the shaft it is hard to turn and i'm sure if i put it back in the truck it's not going to work. What the heck did i do?

Deformed the spring. Don't worry, I have the parts to fix it or another speedo if ya need it.

Shoot me a PM.

I got the needle off, but only by breaking the shaft that its on from prying to much. So basically im in need of replacement parts.

Thanks

That's what happened to me, broke the shaft. I then tried to take the stub out of the needle and still couldn't, so I sent it to Keven and he fixed it for me. Nice to have these resources in the forum membership. H's got my support and recommendation.

Keven is the go to guy for speedo stuff. If i cant figure out mine i'll also be sending it to Keven for fixing, if he's willing :D This forum is definitely one of the most used tools in my tool box.
