I'm new to the forum as I recently bought a 53 pilothouse and it is a bit of a frankentruck. The guy I bought it from put a 49 Chrysler motor in it and the oil pan seems to be very close to the axle. Looking at the suspension travel I think it will hit if bottomed out. Do the truck engines use a different oil pan then the car engines? If so will the truck oil pan fit on the car engine provided they are both the 25" block?

The chrysler car pan has the sump in the rear. Wont work in the trucks . You need a truck pan , pick up and cross over pipe. This puts the oil pan sump towards the front. If this is a 1/2-1 ton pickup with the longer 25" engine in it (original was a 23" engine) you have to watch for tight clearance of the oil sump of pan hitting the front frame cross member. Bob

I have a 236 truck pan, pick up & cross over tube that came out of 1.5 ton truck. It is dent free.

my oil pan had a dent in it from the axel hitting it at one point in it's life. I find that odd, but what can one say beyond that had to be one HECK of a bump!

I'm not sure if that will fit my motor or not but if it will I'd be interested. How much are you asking?

It will work. Dip stick is in the pan too.
