plyroadking Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 I have pulled apart 2 engines this last week and both of them had several pistons that looked like this one. Does anyone know what is causing this? how can I avoid this from happening to the engine once I get it back from the machine shop and put it together? I had the motor apart about 3 years and 35k miles ago and everything looked fine. Quote

54Illinois Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 Apparently that is pretty normal from what I am told... Quote
ptwothree Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 Worn out piston/ring....common on high mile motors...type in 'ring land' in the search engine ...... Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 I had the motor apart about 3 years and 35k miles ago and everything looked fine. When you had the engine apart did you install new piston rings? If so did you correctly set the ring gap? Has your engine ever overheated? Is your water distribution tube clear and functional? Quote
