Looking around I found they have 230 motors relatively cheap. Shipping Would add to the price but after rebuilding and engine myself the price doesn't look that bad. Considering machine shop service parts etc.

I rebuilt a 1930 DeSoto 194ci "Finer Six" in the spring, rebore, pistons new guides, seals, gaskets, head deck. Had to have the rod wrist pins oversized for the newer pistons (used 201ci pistons as the 194's were $12oo.oo + $100.00 for rings) got the 201's for $34.00 each with rings. The whole shebang was around $1150.00. Cheaper that what they are quoting.:)

That sounds pretty reasonable. I have $2600+ in my 218 with new pistons and new oil pump. That was using my engine. Like you said, shipping will add to the price.

I have never heard of them. Personally, I would try to deal with someone local. If any problems arise, what do you do...pull the motor and send it in for repair? Never mind, I just read through the warranty. Too many "outs" for the dealer if something goes wrong.

Must be the added weight of the shipping pallet to get that weight.

LB is not the weight it stands for Long Block and that is the price.
