Question: I pulled my engine and when I compare the old rear top motor mounts with the old ones then are quite different. The new ones are 3/8 inch taller. Would the old ones have compressed 3/8s? Were there different motor mounts used. I don't want to install the incorrect mount. I called Roberts (where I ordered the new ones from) and spoke to Gary senior, he thought maybe it had compressed that much he also said I could cut the new ones down. I am not sure what to do. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The original mounts I've replaced look like pancakes compared to the replacements. That old rubber was hard & cracked, while the new rubber was stiff but pliable. The clue is that the original mounting bolts were not snugged up.

Hey Dolly, when you get older, you get shorter and cannot rise to the occasion as well either!!!:D:D

I thought I would follow up on my original post on motor mounts. I tried fitting the taller mounts from Roberts, and they actually would not fit within the space in the frame; so I ordered another set from Vintage Power Wagon which were about a 1/4 shorter, but they too were tight (not much room from the top of the motor mount and the frme), so I called Steele and they rebuilt the original ones (they are about 1/8 taller than the old worn originals). If someone would like the VPW or Roberts Mounts and would pay shipping plus a few dollars I would like to get rid of them.

The dimensions are as follows (first measurement is total height, second is the height of the rubber above the lower mount:

The ones from Steele (these are the ones I will use) are:

1.449

1.106

VPW

1.50

1.198

Roberts

1.740

1.411

The photo shows the Steele, VPW, and Roberts, left to right
