John-T-53 Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) I got this part with my model 65 truckmaster heater, and this in no way fits anything on trucks that I know of. Might this be part of a car heater? It's got the remains of a rubber boot or hose with a clamp on the 2-3/4" dia. round end. See attached pics... Thanks, Edited November 7, 2011 by John-T-53 Quote
thrashingcows Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Looks like an engine exhaust manifold heat shield. To funnel warm air up into the carb. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 (edited) Looks japanese. Air cleaner snorkle extension for a Datsun . Edited November 17, 2011 by Dodgeb4ya Quote
Roadkingcoupe Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Looks like the box that attaches to the side of the heater and accepts the ducting hose. In addition there is often an adjustable flap to control air flow. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 I think the rectangle end fits on the sheet metal cover that goes over the exhaust manifold and the round end goes on the bottom of the air cleaner snorkel. Carb air pre-heater. Quote
randroid Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Gents, The pictures are a bit dark to say for certain but it sure looks like a vacuum motor for wipers. -Randy Quote
John-T-53 Posted November 17, 2011 Author Report Posted November 17, 2011 I've added some more pics... I'd like to get rid of this but don't want to throw it out. I'm sure someone out there could use it! Quote
chopt50wgn Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 it is a carb pre-heater and from the one pic, it looks like the flange that would cover and make a tight fit is rusted out. Its no good if it can't seal. Quote
