My 53 doesn't have a fan shroud

IMG_0498.jpg

Did they have one from the factory & does anyone know of a bolt on salvage yard shroud that will fit?

I haven't had any problems just driving around but I've had some request for some parades & don't want any issues or the roar of electric fans kicking in.

Good to know, it's unusual to not have any fan shroud but if that's the way it is so be it.

Old Dodge, that was what I expected to see on 1/2 tons too.

Had the radiator rebuilt too so parade duty shouldn't be a problem.

One of the Australian truck manuals that I have lists upper and lower extension panels ('extension' 7-16-68) which attach to the upper and lower radiator support panels ('baffle' 7-16-69). There were no part numbers listed for those extension panels in the manual. I'd would have sent you pictures but I'm working off the laptop and eagerly awaiting my desktop computer being fixed. The extensions would offer some form of protection from the fan, but I have never come across them yet in any truck that I have found. I'll will post a picture from the manual next week when my other computer is up and running again.

I just filled a parade request last month, towed a float up and down several slight hills, and the daytime temp was in the upper 70's. The engine was hotter than usual, but no issues arose. No shroud. Radiator has a new core though. An original core might present some challenges.

I had more issues with exhaust. If you get into float towing, especially with people in the float, I would strongly recommend routing the exhaust all the way to the back of the float!

Dave, I found the picture of the 'extension 7-16-68' that I was talking about from the manual. I haven't seen them in any trucks here in Oz yet. My truck runs consistently at around 160 degrees with no shroud. I am intrigued by the 'extensions' listed in the manual though.

Well done on that good looking truck of yours.
