Hey, does anyone have a pic of a 55 Dodge or even an earlier 50s, Dodge truck ignition switch.

Were the truck ignition switches different than the cars?

Here is a pic of the switch I removed rom the 55 Dodge, it is aftermarket Pollak brand USA made.

Does it resemble the OEM switch at all????

Hey Catfishcuz, they look very similar, don't they. I have mine at the local lock shop, $12.00, he makes a 2 new keys for it, I got mine with no keys, not sure where the outer retainer ring is either, hopefully I can find one.

Your handle would be very appropirate up here, where they have world class channel cats, being caught in the river only minutes away from my front door, and trophy Walleyes too......

I like going down on the santee cooper lakes after them big boys but with the price of gas i cant go as often as id like too.

Does the Santee 1960 world record still hold for the 25 lb Walleye, they don't get that big here but 18 pounders have been caught out out the Red River near Selkirk Manitoba. Lake Winnipeg Walleye swin into the Red River in the fall, chasing the Shiner minnows, they are nicknamed Greenbacks, as they have a brilliant emerald green color phase, when they come out of Lake Winnipeg......

believe I would have ensured Ihad the mounting bezel before spending money to a lock smith to make a key for a lock assembly that has the retaining bezel missing..that alone may kill the install..oft times they may be os the same size but thread count makes interchange a bit of a problem...these locks can be had from just a few bucks on E-bay, even you local would have this at decent price..see them at the swap meets for about 8.00 if memory serves me correct..and as yours is already an aftermarket itme..and you bought the keys already, what difference does it make how it looks if it fits the ignition hole and dresses out properly. Keyhole is a keyhole..for the same money you could have a known good ingintion switch that would give you years of trouble free service..either way..the door keys will not match an aftermarket ign lock

Well $12.00 isn't too bad to spend on this, and pretty sure I have this retainer nut somewhere, the locksmith has a bunch of junk switches.

The switch appears to be in very good form, so if keyed, will use. I , so see what he has for bezels. I am like you in the regard, I don't care if it is aftermarket, as long as it works.

The generic universal swtiches here are about $30-$40, at the parts houses, elcheapo Chinese, about $15.00.

The Epay route is fine, as long as it is reasonably priced, and with the shipping is still going to be more than $12.00 for my switch being keyed with 2 keys.

I plan to find the retainer ASAP, and heck, the Locksmith isn't doing it till tomorrow morning, I could phone and kybosh the deal first thing in the morning..

Decided against having the old switch re-keyed, as I could not scare up the outer retainer ring. I think I will just buy a decent universal aftermarket switch and be done with it...

now you thinking in econo mode..trying to fix an old item that will have a limited service life is what we call false economy..oft times we have to decide where to cut our loses..re-keying the switch even if you had the bezel could net only a short service life left to you the owner..a new one should serve you for years on end..of course this is not a guarantee..but odds are in your favor with the new one..
