Which is correct for my 1949 P15 starter, it rotates clockwise or counter clockwise, I guess it depends on which end your looking at.

Viewed from the front of the car, the crankshaft rotates clockwise. So the flywheel rotates clockwise and any gear in contact with it (i.e. the starter gear) will turn the opposite direction (counter-clockwise).

Left, right, clockwise and counter clockwise for auto's and machinery is always viewed from the operators seat....Don is correct polarity is not an issue for a starter and it will rotate in the opposite direction of the flywheel......

I ask the question because when I went on the web to look for starter parts the question below came up. I have the MCH-6205 starter, but was wondering what way my starter turns. I assume my 6205 also turns clockwise? Confused.......

:eek::confused::D

(AUTO-LITE STARTING MOTOR SPECIFICATIONS

Part number: MCH-6205; MCH-6206 (rotates clockwise)
