coupedude Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 does anybody know if the piece of metal that acts as a hinge can be replace or do you have to find a good hood part that has not rusted the piece off. any info would be helpful thxs:cool: Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 about the only thing you have an option for here is a piano hinge and frankly that will be seen..then you have the problem of affixing each end in a mnner to maintain cnerter position...I feel for the most part finding one that is a bit crusty and refinishing is still the better option for now.. UNLESS...you should want to join the hood in the center and make a one piece hood and then get the kit most hot rodder use to install the hood similar to the old buicks and some international trucks that pivot from either side..these hood kits are readily available from rod shops.. Don Coatney Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Nice thing about the buick setup up is that by realising both sides the hood could be lifted off of the car without any hardware removal. Quote

The 48 thru 50 or 51 Packards had the same setup with the release levers. With a helper it's possible to remove a hood in about 30 seconds. Quote
