55 Fargo Posted October 7, 2011 Report Posted October 7, 2011 Does anyone know if 2005 Dodge Caravan 15 inch rims, will these fit on a 55 Dodge 1/2 ton truck wheel pattern. I need to use them on my Fargo frame to roll iot onto the dolly/trailer, I do not have any old 15 inch dodge rims at the moment, and do not want to take mine off the 47 Chrysler, but have my 15 inch snow tires on 15 inch Caravan rims. Please if anyone can help me with this..... Quote

55 Fargo Posted October 8, 2011 Author Report Posted October 8, 2011 Thanx Keven, tried a wheel on a spare front 49 Chrysler brake drum, fit like a glove. Going tomorrow a 140 miles way to pickup 55 fargo 1/2 ton chassis, renting a tow dolly, instead of using the tow bar, might be safer, and easier handling..... going it by myself, so will report back tomorrow night. Right at this moment, we are having vicious 60 mph winds, and higher gusts, it is darn awful, it is so dry, that dust is flying throrugh the air, 1 big ash tree broke a big limb in the mayhem. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 the later wheels are expressed in metric but it is the same...if you using aluminum wheels be sure to use the acorn based lug nut..check the offset of the modern wheels...if you are serious with new wheels look to stock Dakota 5 lugs steelies or the last of the rear wheel drive Diplomat/5th Ave series....the Jeep series on the Cherokee or CJ series..have the right offset but...you will have to modify the centers due to front hub..all are hub concentric so that is a plus....the Canyon wheels are well worth it..at least to me they were..other wheels from Lincoln/Ford have some nice wheels that are also very compatable..the list and chice is almost endless..you can pick and choose for just the right look...My 41 Dodge, the Suburban wagon, the 52 Club Coupe and the project P15 Bz Cp all have very late model mag wheels from the factory except for the slotted on the P15..they are aftermarket and were sourced from an ahem...Ford..even up trade on a set of other mags Ihad here so I am happy with them..the Canyon wheels went through two mods and sport torq thrust style stands and spinners..its all in what you want and serious you are about getting just the right look..remember..you only have to satisfy yourself.. 55 Fargo Posted October 8, 2011 Author Report Posted October 8, 2011 Thanx Tim, for all the good info, just planning to use the 15 inch aftermarket rims, and tires from a spare set for my Dodge Caravan for the front the 55 fargo frame, to place on tow dolly to bring home, yikes tomorrow will be a long day, as I am on my own on this one. I sure wish I had a truck and trailer, but do not. Yoy know way back around 1980, I went to the same place I am going tomorrow, and towed back a 52 GMC 3/4 ton, using a Uhaul rented tow bar, and pulled with 1977 Chrysler New Yorker Broughman, with 440, and some kinda hitch, not a bumper hitch, but not a modern type receiver hitch either. The New Yorker was my Dads, ! was 19 ,and brought along a 14 year old relative to help and steer the truck, cannot imagine doing that today. My Father must have had a lot of faith in me to allow me to do this...... Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 speaking of Caravan wheels... Quote
B1B Keven Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Fred, you're welcome. Tim, do you have a pic of the Canyon wheels bolted up? There's a set on my wife's XJ, hmmmmmmm Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 not bolted on yet except as a test fit...but here is a picture of the wheel with the spinners...the center has since been milled flat for the spinner base to set dead flat on. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Kevin..be sure you understand that the centers need be opened..and that is why the spinners are installed..these cover the front rotor bearing snouts on on the Dakota front suspension on my car..the spinners are optional..I think I measured and found that the actual raised covers will fit also..if you wish not to go this route you will have to opt for the later model wheels with the larger centers..these are identified mainly by the bolt on center plate/disc...as in this wheel, after market brand (Progressive I think it was) These were on a Mustang my friend bought to part out and I did some trading for..of course I had to do a bit of work to clean them up and made special stands for the spinners..yeah..I like spinners.. Oh, I know (thank you). I'm thinking of having the center holes drilled out and using some American Racing style screw on caps. I've always liked the looks of the Canyon wheel. Quote
