greg g Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 The umber you posted is the engine number for a 46-early 49 Plymouth. the serial number wil tell you when and where the car was made. Also for a fee, you can send the serial number to Chrysler Historical Assoc. at the Walter P Chrysler Mueseum in Detroit and they will send you back a facsimile of the cars build order. It will give you the date built, the trim level, the assembly plant and the recieving dealer. Plymouth had an assembly plant in Las Angeles so if your car is a California car its likely it was assembled there. If your are a fan of classic movies, the earness of the chrysler factory, exlains why Plymouths were popular cars featured in Andy Hardy, (Mickey Roney) and Bogart private eye movies. Guess they were inovators in "product placement" in films. Quote
40plyrod Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 That's a real beauty. Just wondering how hard is the procedure to get it home? Quote
Mark D Posted September 12, 2011 Report Posted September 12, 2011 Classy! Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the board. Quote

MoparAl- Posted September 12, 2011 Author Report Posted September 12, 2011 Hi Guys thanx for the welcome, i cant wait to see my new baby, this is my first forties mopar, ive generally been a Ford man except for a 1955 Coupe DeVille i imported from New England. Got into Mopar a couple of years ago with the RoadRunner clone, but now feel the need to do older stuff as their so much more interesting. The 48 leaves San Francisco tommorrow and should be at the docks in about 30 days, then another six days for customs etc, will post pics as it arrives. MoparAl Quote
