..Okay here goes...Don G on another thread is searching for a miss in his engine.I didn't want to hijack the thread,so I thought I would start a new one with this question.

I'm used to seeing the vacuum advance on the distributor on our engines at the top left hand position on the distributor and I realize it doesn't really matter as long as everything is in order.

I'm curious why some have chosen to mount the distributor with the vacuum advance at the bottom right hand position?

Sorry if this has been covered before...just wondering

Its based on what the factory supplied as a distributor. Eaarlier engines (pre 42) seem to use this style of distributor with the vacuum pot on the bottom.
