David Maxwell Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I had a request today for some info on the P15 glovebox spring. I didn't have my camera at home so I made a quick 3D model of what mine looks like. Several people have told me they have never had such a clip/spring in theirs and, due to the closed hinge in the parts manual, you can't see if there is supposed to be one or not. Can anyone here confirm the clip? If so, can you say whether your clip's hook faces up or down? Attached is the 3D model I created. Thanks! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I think it goes on in the position shown. Too late to want to go out and look right now. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Thought I had a better picture but this is it. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I have this pic from my parts manual but it does not show that clip. But I have one on my car also. Quote
RHDSP15C Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 If you don't have one the glove box lid is a real pain to open. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 I think I have this problem solved. Ok so really I need to have one of these springs? Neither my car or the parts car had one that I noticed. But both had the glove box doors removed before I got to them. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 Just now looked.....I do have one on mine. Guess it works OK. Quote
steveplym Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 I don't have one on my car and it is a pain to open. Anybody know how I could make one or is there one available somewhere. I would assume there are only used one's available? Quote
David Maxwell Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 You confirmed two things. 1. They were standard and 2. They go on with the hook downward. As for finding a replacement, I'm not sure. Can't be that hard to fabricate one of these though. You could probably go to a machine shop if you had to and they could make you one for $10 or less. At least my local shop would do it for that. Of course, he's a Mopar guy and always likes to see my car. If I'm out his way in the next week or so, I'll have him look at mine and let me know what he would charge to make a few of them. If I had a bar bender, I would mess around with making some myself. The steel is pretty hard and not the sort of thing I would expect to do with a pair of needle nose pliers, but hey, I haven't tried. Quote
Normspeed Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 David, that's some neat graphics work. What program is that? Quote
David Maxwell Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 ...programs called TrueSpace. I've used a lot of 3D programs, but TrueSpace is the most intuitive of them all. For quick simple modeling, it can't be beat. Of course you can also create quite complex models and animations with it too. Quote
