Labrauer Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 I have spent two days with a guy that wants to buy my 52 F1 ford truck just to find out from Paypal that it is a scam. I have gotten 10 emails that are suppost to be from Paypal that they say they didn't send and the guy is telling me that his paypal account has taken 14,200.00 for me. Then the guy puts stipulations on that I have to pay 1,000.00 to his agent to come pick up the truck before paypal will give me the money fir the truck. I guess I fell for that one but at least I contacted paypal before any money went out of my pocket. Lesson learned; trust noone! Larry Brauer:mad: Quote
JerseyHarold Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 CAVEAT EMPTORPurchasing a vehicle with PayPal can be tricky...I had a deal set up last year that went a li'l sour when PayPal decided that I was attempting to defraud them and stopped my payments after I had shipped my purchase over 300 miles across state lines. I had to make a lot of apologizing phone calls to the seller and raised you-know-whut with PayPal for their actions, which they could not explain their reasons for making me look like a crook. Shortly thereafter, the credit card I had on PayPal drastically cut my credit limit in mid-cycle, which was another embarrassment that popped up when that card was declined at the grocery store. Two other credit cards followed suit by cutting my credit limits unexpectedly. All three credit card companies explained this away as "actions that were caused by computer programming" and that customer service could not reverse these changes. In retrospect, I should have just paid in cash cuz it would have been a whole lot easier. If that stuff ever happened to my credit cards, I would immediately suspect a case of identity theft and take the appropriate steps to find out for sure what's going on. I hope you did the same.
