ggdad1951 Posted June 23, 2011 Report Share Posted June 23, 2011 I know after several threads here on the door lock and it's removal/re-installation, several ideas have been floated. Below are my pictures of what I chose to do. I bought a stainless shaft collar form MSC for ~$13, drilled a cross hole for a 1/4-20 stainless set screw and machined a flat on so it will slip by the door side folds. The side I machined is rotated after slipping it over the lock tube. It works great! ggdad1951 Posted June 24, 2011 Author Report Share Posted June 24, 2011 one could just buy the steel version, and forego the stainless, and then once it is snug, tack it in place with a welder. That would assure your lock never moved. Put a SS screw in and you'd still be set. After removing the SS one last night I'm going to deepen the back cut on the clamp and remove some material where the srew tightens for more clamping force. Its a bit of a struggle how stiff these are getting them snug (modified accordingly below).
