My 47' s steering seems very loose..just cruising around 25mph it seems the car sways alot and steering wheel has alot of play in it....any suggestions?

What have you looked at so far?

first check all linkage joints and connections if they are tight then adjust the steering gear, there is a cap nut on top, remove it and with the steering wheel centered screw in the bolt till the play goes away, also if you are running bias tires they will cause sway or wander when traveling at speed, switch to radials and will track and handle like a new car.

service manual. And while you are lookig st stuff, check the rubber isolation pad that goes between the steering box and frame. There was just a thread in the last 3 to 4 weeks dealing with your questions.

I would assume the things you need to check are the kingpins and ball joints. After that check the steering box for adjustments. The sway bar shouldn't affect the loose steering.

If you don't have a service manual, you should do that right away. It will answer many of your questions.
