TimStatelman Posted May 9, 2011 Author Report Posted May 9, 2011 I haven't checked really anything but I did notice my sway bar bushings are in really bad shape but I don't know where to get new ones at Quote
james49ply Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 first check all linkage joints and connections if they are tight then adjust the steering gear, there is a cap nut on top, remove it and with the steering wheel centered screw in the bolt till the play goes away, also if you are running bias tires they will cause sway or wander when traveling at speed, switch to radials and will track and handle like a new car. TimStatelman Posted May 9, 2011 Author Report Posted May 9, 2011 I just put bias ply on for the look I'll def look into adjusting the steering box does anyone know where I can possibly find a write up with pictures Quote
greg g Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 service manual. And while you are lookig st stuff, check the rubber isolation pad that goes between the steering box and frame. There was just a thread in the last 3 to 4 weeks dealing with your questions. Quote
Jim Saraceno Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I would assume the things you need to check are the kingpins and ball joints. After that check the steering box for adjustments. The sway bar shouldn't affect the loose steering. Here is a link on steering components... http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/028/Cover.htm Here's another on suspension... http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Lit/Master/020/Cover.htm If you don't have a service manual, you should do that right away. It will answer many of your questions. Quote
TimStatelman Posted May 9, 2011 Author Report Posted May 9, 2011 Thank you I hope I can solve this problem Quote
