Gas pedal linkage

It seems like I'm missing something here for the gas pedel linkage on my 48 PU. There are 2 eyes that I thought went together but when I put them together the gas pedel rod scraped the floorboard. Anyone know if there is a small peice that is used to connect the two together?

Thanks,

Dan

If it's the "eyes" that I think you are refering to, there is just a pin that connects them to create a pivot point. How is it scraping the floorboard? Might things just need a little allignment?

By the way... You keep posting your questions on the car portion of this forum. If you take them over to the Pilot-House area you may get more "truck guys" providing help. Many of us cross back and forth, but not all do.

Thanks Merle,

I thought that was the way it went together. Maybe something is bent. I will check it out.

I knew that the other side was for trucks, but didn't see many online there at any given time. I didn't know this side was only for cars  . I was thinking it was for all old Dodge.

The P15-D24 (car side) does get more action. Probably because there are more cars out there than trucks. And that relates to more car guys than truck guys. Either that or they just have more problems than us truck guys. :P Or they are just more chatty. Like I said. several of us jump back and forth between the two forums since there are some common systems between the two vehicle types. And although there are no hard rules regarding which forum to post in, I think you'll get more of the truck guys reading you questions if you use the Pilot-House forum. Especially on questions like this one. The cars use a different throttle linkage setup.

I went out and shot a couple pics of mine this afternoon, so here they are. I believe this is the spot you were refering to? The cab's not on it yet so I can't verify the fit through the floor, but I haven't modified anything.

On mine the top of the gas pedal rod scrapes the floorboard. Thanks for taking the time to take those pics!!!

I wonder if you have the wrong gas pedal? There are some that are a little longer.

hmmmm... maybe the cab shifted or something. Looks like the other pedals touch ever so slightly as well. Maybe I could have the longer one, and need the shorter one if it's the gas pedal rod. I guess I will just have to play around with it once the weather gets better. Looks like snow, rain, hail......can't make up its mind.

My 51 B3B had bad front cab mounts. Had to replace those to get the correct alignment for the pedals. THat ment going to a junk yard and having the section cut out, go home and brazed the corner sections in at the correct locations. NOT fun!

What do you think about cutting the floorboard notch up just a bit?

Which side of the linkage are you puzzling over - drivers' side or passangers'? If you are lookiing at the carb side, the return spring connects to a plain ole' ordinary cotter pin that sticks through the floorboard. Many a good man has spent lotsa' time puzzling that one out on reaseembly. Just wonderin' . . . . . .
