Joe Flanagan Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Today I retorqued the head bolts on my engine. They didn't budge. I followed Greg G.'s advice and also tightened down my manifolds. It's a good thing I did. I was surprised how loose they had gotten. Then I got underneath to check a couple of oil leaks. I tightened the bolts on the timing chain cover (the ones I could reach, anyway) and these were pretty loose, too. Followed up with the oil pan bolts. Then came the fun stuff. Or so I thought. I put the front fenders on. Struggled so much with getting clearance between them and the doors it was a heck of a lot of work. I wound up dinging the paint in a couple of places. Very small spots that I can touch up without any trouble. Some of you may remember how I ran out of the first batch of paint I had and the paint shop couldn't match it exactly. Basically, the hood and fenders are a different color from the rest of the car. You can't see it in the sunlight, but when it's overcast it really stands out. It's disappointing, but I'll live with it. I still need to resolve the door-to-fender clearance issues and then I'm putting the hood on. Can't wait. Quote
