48WingNut Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 Ok...i'm kinda stumped here. I'm working on installing new front turn signals and tails lights on my B1D. I'm waiting on the turn signals and tail lights to come in so I was working on the original tail light that is mounted on the license plate bracket. I know the light works by powering it up to the battery charger and I tested for power up to where they connect together and I have power. But when I plug them together I still have no light. What gives? I know it's going to be something simple. Thanx for any help! P.S. (they are new connectors so I know I got a good tight fit). 48WN Quote
greg g Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Most flashers are resistance sensitive. That is why the most comon symptom of a burned out signal filiment is that the signals won't flash. So if you are trying to get one lamp to flash, the flasher wont have enough resistance to heat the bimatalic strip to make and brake the connection. Plus without the other fixture (front) hooked up half the circuit is open. Hook up another bulb or spare lamp to the front wires with jumper wires and see if it will work then. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted March 26, 2007 Report Posted March 26, 2007 Make sure you have a good ground to the bed and light bracket Quote
48WingNut Posted March 26, 2007 Author Report Posted March 26, 2007 I was wondering if I needed to have the other lights hooked up and working. I guess i'll know more in the next few days when I get them all hooked up. I just thought that since the light worked and I had power to the connections I should have got something to work. Especially since it is just a brake and tail light. No flashers involved. Thanx! 48WN Quote
48WingNut Posted March 27, 2007 Author Report Posted March 27, 2007 Like I said....something simple. Didn't have a good enough ground on the light to the frame. Geez. 48WN Quote
