1950 Special Deluxe Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 My seat covers arrived from Automotive Interiors this week. http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/ I had ordered them just before Christmas, before the price increase and they told me that it would be 6 -8 weeks, I emailed them near the end of February to check on them. Diane told me that there was a manufacturing issue, but they would be completed and on their way shortly. A couple of days later, I got an email saying that there were shipped Air Express at their cost to help make up the delay. The included instructions were bang on, they supplied enough hog rings, I did take bearheart's advice and buy better quality hog ring pliers. They fit perfectly, it was a bit of a relief as my car is a Canadian Dodge, interior is supposed to be the same as the Plymouth Special Deluxe, but it was still a relief to get them installed. I will attach some photos, please don't focus on the rest of the interior as it is in bad shape. I probably should have done something else before re-doing the seats, but my wife did not like to ride in it. Even though it is technically her car. I am not totally finished the install, the front seat is just sitting in place. Quote
thrashingcows Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Thank you for the update...they look really nice!! Did you re-pad the seats, or just pulled off the original covers and slipped these ones on? Quote
1950 Special Deluxe Posted March 13, 2011 Author Report Posted March 13, 2011 They are designed to go right over top of the existing. I just cleaned the seats the best I could. I did not re-stuff the seats, I just installed right over top of the existing seats. Once I got into it a bit, I did consider stripping the seats right down to the frames but my car is a driver at best and will never be a show car and the seats are still pretty comfortable. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Looks good to me. I've been wanting to do mine but pricing is always an issue. Without being too nosey.... how much were they? Tom Quote

1940plymouth Posted March 13, 2011 Report Posted March 13, 2011 Now you will have to have your son take a photo of you and your wife sitting in the car, maybe with her behind the steering wheel Quote
