On business in Los angeles for the next 8 days. Any members in the area know of any club meets or shows going on in the area that are worth the drive? I've got nothing to do most evenings this week or this weekend and I'm itching to see a few classics from the 40's.

where you at in LA, we be in the Palm springs area, disney nut brother dragging us to the mouse hole on Wed. Doing Joshus tree NP tomorrow. We had quite an off road adventure yesterday in the southern part of the park. Jeep liberty is trail rated.

We did a 20 mile loop of ridge runs and wash bottoms. Then we read about the route when we got home. Recommended for serious off roaders equipped with proper equipment. We had water and cell phones and water and 1/4 tankof gas. And no body told us not to start it 1 hour before sunset. Last 8 miles in the dark was interesting......

It is a bit of a drive, but there will be a bunch of Packards meeting at the Lyon Air Museum by Orange County (John Wayne) airport on Sunday from 9AM to about 11AM. It is not a car show, but there will be about 30 packards there of all vintages, but mostly pre-war. They'll drive 'em and park 'em and go through the museum. Most of these cars will be show or close to show quality.

There is Cars and Coffee on Saturday mornig 7AM to 9AM, also in Irvine and always interesting. It is a casual show, no judging, etc., just car guys meeting to look and talk. Usually a couple 100 cars from modern to old. Always something worth looking at.

In Long Beach there is the Hi-performance swap meet and car show. Mostly a car parts swap meet, but people bring their vintage cars and rods to sell also. That is Sunday at the Long Breach Veteran's Center. It is fairly heavily advertised on the radio, but mostly a dealers meet.

Did you check over on the HAMB? There may be some type of

rod/custom doings somewhere. Those fellows often list upcoming

events.

I think you can lurk and look without being a member.

Or, you could sign up.....doesn't cost anything.

Just be aware that they often use some bad language in posts.

Thanks for the leads gents. The packard meet sounds interesting and the air museum is a bonus too. Ive got a warm place in my heart for those cars as well as my grandfather had a few in his lifetime.

I've visited the HAMB a few times but not recently, so that's worth a look as well.
