windsor8 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Working on my Dodge and came across this "ok" mark. Makes me wonder about the worker that signed off on this phase of assembly so long ago. Quote
thrashingcows Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Neat...I have a couple "OK Paint" and "OK" ink stamps under the hood of ol' Fernando. I like to see stuff like this, makes me wonder too. Quote
40plyrod Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I found "Cam" written with the glue they used to stick the insulation to the roof when I was sandblasting the underside of the roof last summer. Quote
50 Dodge Lug Nut Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I found "Cam" written with the glue they used to stick the insulation to the roof when I was sandblasting the underside of the roof last summer. A signed OK is so much more "personal" than just an "Inspected by #3" tag found in a new pkg of Fruit of the Looms. Quote
Kevinb71 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Well maybe it's better if your Fruit of the Looms were inspected by #3. Not sure i want to know who's been inspecting my shorts! Quote
55 Fargo Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 Neat thread, just goes to show, many of us, are also interested in the "human side" of those who built our cars, so many years ago. It still blows my mind, when I think that my cars survived the late 40s, all the 50s,60s,70s,80s,90s, and 2000-2011, amazing isn't it. I sure wich I knwo who bought my car new, and from what dealer, but there are no build and ship records for Canadian Chryslers.... Quote
Young Ed Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 The most amazing story I've heard about writing in the car was on an IHC group. Someone had a pickup from I think 1979 or whenever the last year they manufactured them. Fastward a few decades and he goes to remove the seat to work on the truck. Behind the seat were signatures of all the employees who built his truck saying good bye to their jobs and sending the truck out into the world. He figured it must have been one of the last ones down the assembly line if not the very last. Quote
