Booker T Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Been using this forum as a resource for a while now and I have just started posting questions. I really appreciate all of the help and replies I have received. So, I decided to post a few pictures of my project and progress that I have made... I have had the car for a couple years and have been trying to do things as I can...it probably rated a little less than a "basket case" when I got it. Since I got it I put in front disc brakes, rebuilt rear brakes, rewired the entire car, added a offy intake, dual exhaust manifold and Langdon's carbs. I was never happy with how the car ran so I recently pulled the motor and sent it out for a rebuild. Turns out I had a couple broken rings. I also decided that I wanted to do a T5 swap at the same time (original tranny was a powerflite...which was a leaky mess). I have the engine back from the machine shop and have sourced all the parts that I need for the T5 swap. I have also decided to complicate the project by trying to do the following at the same time... - Convert to 12v with HEI. - Smoothing and painting the firewall. I am running without a heater so I had a couple big holes to cover. - Removed. cleaned and painted inner fenders. - Install PCV system - Rebuild front suspension and relocate front shocks. - Re-wire the re-wire I already did...mainly cleaning things up a litte more. - Floorboard repair...went the hard way and decided to make the panels instead of buying them. I want to get this thing back on the road so I can start enjoying it again! I am also trying to get things done so I can drive to the Lone Star Roundup again this year. After that I will start on the rest of the rust and body repair and then move on to the interior. I don't intend on ever having a show car but there are definitely a lot of other things I want to do to get this car where I want it. The main thing is that I like to do things myself even when it might be smarter to let someone else to do them so that will probably extend the overall project timeline! Again, thanks to everyone who has helped my out with all of my recent posts...I am sure there will be more to come! Quote
moose Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Sounds like a good project to me:) Looks like quite a shop, too! Quote
Alshere59 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Yep love the shop and the progress. I am thinking you do some small aircraft work as well. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Nice shop! You are doing some good looking work there. If you weren't in Texas I would make an offer on that Powerflite. Quote
Booker T Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 I just went back and looked through the pictures I attached. Just to show how much I know about small aircraft...I am not even smart enough to figure out what in the pictures lead you to think that It is my friend's shop that I share. It is a great place to work on stuff. The original building is 40X80 but we just added on another 40X40 (just roof, no slab) so he has a place to park his tractors...and make more room in the shop for old car stuff. I also just picked up another lift from a local car dealership that moved locations....9k lb Rotary Lift! I can't wait to get it set up! Quote
Alshere59 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) Your water distribution thread. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=23951&d=1296547349 Looks like a prop cone in the background and an aircraft tire next to your tool box. I guess its a tractor tire. Maybe cones for windmill? Edited February 1, 2011 by Alshere59 Quote

I guess its a tractor tire. Maybe cones for windmill? Ahhhhh...pretty sneaky pulling clues from another thread! You are exactly right! Those are prop cones. We picked those up when we went to buy a banjo rear end for a Model A Sports Couple project we are working on. The guy kept trying to get us to buy them for $50...in the end, after repeatedly turning him down, he threw them in with the rear end...guess he just wanted to get rid of them! There is also an antique wooden prop on the wall and I was looking through all of the pictures trying to see if it was in one of them... You are correct about the tractor tire too... Quote
Alshere59 Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 Just noticed them. Been working around airfeilds a long time. Everything from B-2's to small aeroclub planes. Would love to have a shop that roomy, I just have half of a two car garage. Quote

My friend originally built it for storing his tractors / farm implements and his 1/8 mile drag car. The drag car was sold about 5 years ago and we both started working on classics / hot rods...the farm stuff has been getting pushed / crammed farther and farther into the corner for a while now. That is when i decided to partner with him on the addition for his farm stuff...I guess I was having a guilty conscience about taking up so much room in the shop Quote
hkestes41 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Booker, I am also trying to get things done so I can drive to the Lone Star Roundup again this year. Is this yours? If so we were parked together for a while on day one last year. Hope to see you again this year. Quote
Booker T Posted February 2, 2011 Author Report Posted February 2, 2011 Nice shop! You are doing some good looking work there. If you weren't in Texas I would make an offer on that Powerflite. Any idea what shipping would be on something like that? I know I have shipped some pretty heavy stuff...I think through Greyhound, and it was pretty reasonable. I see you are in Indiana. A lot of my family is from Indiana...grandparents from Twelve Mile and Chili...my mom born in Peru. I till have an aunt, uncle and cousin in Anderson. When I was young I lived in Noblesville. Actually, my uncle drives down to visit every so often to visit, maybe I could talk him in to taking the Poweflite back with him! Quote
