BobT-47P15
My son in law took his used P15 clock to a jeweler he knows. The man took it apart, cleaned it, repaired one gear, cleaned the face and repainted the hands -- for a reasonable price. So now it both looks and works good. Nowhere near the asking price of that clock invested.
Frank Elder
Thank you for your reply Bob. How about the rest of the 52 looky loos that haven't bothered.
Plymouthy Adams
I have three of these clocks now..all are good and less than 50.00 tied up in all of them together..there is no call for this high a price..they are not so common I grant you but the repairs are simple to make as long as the hairspring and balance staff is intact...these items can be verified within 5 seconds of putting it in your hand.. BobT-47P15
There are many items on ebay or from individuals where you find the same choice. You can pay the high dollar for a new or excellent used item, or give less for something of lesser quality. Depends upon your outlook and pocketbook. I tend to look for things that are a happy medium.....good used stuff works for my car which is less than perfect. If I were seeking perfection then I would have to save up for some n o s item. And, even those may not be totally good due to years of shelf wear and climate conditions where they were stored. Some used items can be improved with cleaning and repairs, some are not so easy to deal with. If you watch ebay on an ongoing basis, there is a chance something you want may appear at a reasonable price, but you can't count on it totally. I'm constantly amazed at the big prices some Plymouth parts bring. Where are those cars - I seldom see another P15 around here, but there must be a bunch being fixed. And those guys seem to be willing to pay top dollar. Just my two cents worth.
