41/53dodges
when reading the post about an engine and chassis, i had an idea. a lot of people on the forum are willing to donate parts and money to either the forum or others in need, why not see if we can build a truck entirely of parts from the forum, mainly donated, and then either make a museum piece out of it or auction it off to assist in funding to run the forum! i thought it was a good idea (probably because its mine:D) what do you guys think? Dave72dt
I think it may be a noble idea but a logistical nightmare, not only in parts but in labor, timelines. Most of us are fitting these trucks into spare time. A project like that would require dedicated time, location.
41/53dodges
yeah, thats kinda what i was thinking, but didnt want to say anything. it would still be kinda cool, though.
Dave72dt
I could see a club doing something like that, bunch of local enthusiasts putting togehter a club project.
pflaming
Interesting idea: Logistics would be one issue, so here's food for thought. Pick where the truck would be assembled say some where central to the US. Then have a west coast group do the engine, upper midwest the drive train, etc., so build it in assemblies accross the nation, ship them to the central point and assemble. sniggle_t
A local Model A club did this in conjunction with the Saratoga Automobile Museum and some local kids. http://www.saratogaautomuseum.org/news.php?NID=
