Well doesn't that just "jerk the cats tail". I finally get my latch out, and find out I'm still missing two parts (both springs shown) !!! Cass, alias Littlemo...

If the spring you are looking for looks like this, you can have this one.

This is one that goes to a '40 Plymouth glove box door at the bottom of the door in the middle

Let me know,

Bob[/quote']Bob, That's the one. The other one shown on the parts pictures is not used on mine. Let me know what you want.

Thanks, Tom

Tom,

The glove box door has to come off, the spring attaches to the center of the door and opening. It took me a few times to figure it out, but I eventually got it installed correctly. There is a small screw that holds it in place.

For some reason it seems this spring doesn't belong in this glovebox. I've had the door off and tried every configuration and it just doesn't go. I think '40 and '41 have different springs. Bob, I'll send it back if you want or if someone here can use it let me know. If someone here with a '41 Plymouth has the spring in their glovebox, could you kindly(when you get a chance) take a pic of yours.

Thanks, Tom

Tom,

Hang on to it, if it isn't the right one, like you mentioned, someone might be able to use it down the road and you can send it to them.

One person you could check with is Lindsay McConnel on the POC site, he has some 1941 Plymouths and is very helpful

This is why I really like this forum.......in the 40 yrs that I've owned my dodge I always thought that the glove box button arrangement was odd, you pushed the button and sorta had to hold the button and pull the lid open..........then I saw this topic, read it and realised that maybe thats what I should have......but didn't.......last week I saw my first real US 1940 Dodge and checkout the glove box lid........sure enough there was a little spring between the lid and the lid bracket.........so while it might not be a part I can find here in Oz I do have some small spring steel brake line/chassis clamps and after drilling a hole & shortening the clamp I installed my new glove box spring.........and it WORKS......lol............after 40 yrs I now have a glove box that opens as it should when the button is pressed...........LIFE IS GOOD..........lol.....thank you forum..........andyd

Tom on my p15 the spring goes on top of the hinge. There are 3 screws mounting the hinge to the dash and its on the center one. Try it there.

I tried the center screw. I'm gonna go out again and play with it some more.

Thanks, Tom

Tom' date=' just took this photo of my glove box door, the spring goes in the center of the hinge and you can see the head of the small screw that holds it in place if you look closely

Hope this helps[/quote']I see your glovebox is totally different than mine. Here's mine..... At least I opened a new avenue for some people who didn't know there was a spring in there. BTW... that scrape mark on the center was from the spring I tried to mount.

Tom that looks just like my p15 setup. The spring goes under the center screw of the 3 that mount the hinge to the dash.

Ed, The clip that I got has a hole that's bigger than the screw head. And the bend is not shaped to the hinge plate. I wish you were here to see what I mean. If the weather isn't too bad soon, maybe you can take a picture of yours. Believe me, I'm really gratefull. I hate to be a PITA.

Thanks, Tom

Mine looks just like Bobs picture. Glad he had that as my car is 120 miles away and probably surrounded by lots and lots of snow.
