"Accident-ly" found a new use for a bass guitar string....OT

Welll......it was a fairly uneventful day til about 5 o'clock tonight.

We had stopped at a light on our way to the church to attend to a

certain matter. The light turned green, we were proceeding across

the other street.....when suddenly this car was right in front of us.

Stepped on the brake, but we hit rhe drivers side rear wheel of the

other vehicle.......which mostly ripped off our front bumper. It was

hanging off from a few attaching bolts on the drivers side.....and the

passenger end was dragging on the ground. Were in the Caravan.

Both vehicles pulled into a nearby parking lot to exchange information

and call the P D. The lady driving the other car received a citation for

running a red light.

So I'm looking at our car (nothing was leaking, no lights broken) and

thinking "if I could just fasten this bumper up, I can drive it on home".

Then I remembered the sack with the used strings removed from my

guitar earlier in the afternoon when I bought new ones. I tend to keep

the old strings as emergency spares. Used the old "G" string to tie

the bumper up to the radiator framework, and got back home with no

problems.

So as your were driving home and after having attached the G String to the bumper was your car then playing the Aire in G minor or Major.

Hope the sound was in tune and not flat.

My wife Lisa is in Columbus, Ohio tending to the needs of her brother who has some severe cancerous health issues. She called me earlier today to report that while she was purchasing gas some one backed up and struck her car. Fortunately she was not hurt and her car recieved minor damage. Intersting thing she discovered was the lady who backed up striking her car lives two doors next to her sister who also lives in Columbus. Hopefully this will make the insurance claim a bit more manageable.

I dont think any G strings will be required to settel this matter;)

Yes, we were lucky no one in either car was hurt.

If the timing had been just a little different, it could have been much

worse.

The other driver's insurance company got right on it, and by this

afternoon I was approved to have a rental car. So we're now driving

a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is pretty big but doesn't have as

much cargo space as our short Caravan. The body shop says they

hope to have the van repaired by next Thursday, subject to being

able to get the needed parts in a timely fashion due to the holiday.

I think I'll stay in touch with Enterprise Rental and when they get a

Caravan back in, trade them the Jeep for one of those. Strangely,

it makes me kind of nervous driving a new vehicle that isn't mine.

If an at fault accident were to occur, then it would be on my own

insurance.
