MarkAubuchon Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 All, with your help we now know that a 48 1/2 ton and a 51 1 ton cab are interchangeable. NEXT QUESTION What about the front fenders and hood? are they the same Quote
moparmonkey Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 The fenders are interchangeable, no problems. I believe they were identical from '48 to '53. The hood was redesigned in '51, I'm not sure you'd be able to use the '51 hood without using the '51 nose section as well. Quote
41/53dodges Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 was just the grille redone, or the grille AND hood? Quote
moparmonkey Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) was just the grille redone, or the grille AND hood? Both. I looked it up in B series reference guide. The grille was redesigned, and the front grille panel changed as well. In addition to the cosmetic changes, the way the hood fits with the front grille panel was also changed, so the hood changed too. The front grille panels will bolt onto any year truck, '48 to '53 (fenders are the same!). But a '48-'50 hood will need a '48-'50 front grille panel, and a '51-'53 hood will need a '51-'53 front panel. A '51 hood will not fit a '48 front panel. Edited December 1, 2010 by moparmonkey Quote
MarkAubuchon Posted December 2, 2010 Author Report Posted December 2, 2010 So, I can use the 51 fenders, 48 inner fenders and brackets, 48 hood and front Quote
