Alshere59 Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Is there a way to pull the oil pump on a 1950 Plymouth short of taking the engine totally loose? Now it hits the frame before it comes out enough to remove it. Al Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 Pry the engine over a bit-should come right out. Quote
Alshere59 Posted November 14, 2010 Author Report Posted November 14, 2010 Well tried that first. Not enough room gained but close. I went with taking out two bolts from the head of the pump. Slid out and back in. Barely. Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Search the postings made by forum member "blueskies". I believe he had the same problem and had to jack the engine up a bit to remove the pump. Quote
aero3113 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Remove the top bolt on the pump cover, that should give you the clearance you need. If needed use a floor jack and a block of wood on the opposite side of the oil pan and jack it up a little bit. Quote
Alshere59 Posted November 15, 2010 Author Report Posted November 15, 2010 back in and running. Taking out the two top bolts was the trick. Now to tackle the rest of the bugs. Thanks Quote
