Need to get some things for the car and want some opinions of where the best place is to get them. Here's the shopping list:

1. Wiper base pivot pads

2. Gas filler neck grommet

3. Gas, brake and clutch shaft seals

4. Firewall grommets

5. cowl vent rubber (one piece formed and complete)

6. brake and clutch bolt on pedals

Also...where can I get the little pins that hold the window cranks and door handles in place? They almost look like circumfrence of the wire used on a coat hanger.

I recall seeing most of those items in the PlyDo catalog.

Yeah...I went to their site, but you have to order their catalog and I need to order something like tomorrow. This stuff is on Brenbaum's site, but everyone seems to caution him.

Have you ever checked the links section of the main web page supporting this forum? GTK has put together a long list of places where you can order stuff.

Yeah, Don. I have, but some of the links don't exists anymore. Probably time for some updating, I'd say. Robert's seems to be pretty good, but they don't show too many pictures to see how it actually looks.

Geez Darin you are right;

I just checked out every link and found 15 bad links. I will report them to GTK under seporate cover. Strange thing is the bad links I found do not sell what you are looking for?

I would order the rubber parts from steele. Get the rest from Roberts if he lists it. The pins for the door handles you are going to have to make. I've never seen them for sale. You won't find pedals at the hardware store though. You're going to have to order them.

I sent Darin this picture, but will put it here for what it's worth to anyone else. Decided to try and find some rubber item to use as draft pad in lieu of the $24 set on ebay. So went to Lowe's Home Center and found a rubber washer, size 5/8 x 2 1/4. It is large enough to cover the hole in the floor, firm enough to hold up for a while, and flexible enough that you can start in at the top of your pedal (after removing the pads), slide it down the shaft and thru the hole in the floor (gently tucking it with a screwdriver). There is a ridge on the shaft under the floor to keep it from sliding on down. You can even use two together for more thickness. I sometimes enjoy the minor challenge of trying to make something strange and different work in place of a standard type item.

Darin,

If Roberts parts are the same as Burnbaum's, it's crap. You can get all that stuff from Steele Rubber. They'll even revulcanize your brake and clutch pedals.

The pedals can get expensive though. I do know that Tom Russom had several pairs of NOS aftermarket bolt on brake and clutch pedals. Check with him, he may still have a pair. You can find his email in the Member List under Thomas Russom.

I misread or misunderstood the post I was thinking of the nuts that go no the bolt in the shoe sorry-If yours are not to bad turn them upside down or reverse them- brake on clutch etc. I would look for someone parting out a car and e mail them - several on e Bay - might find some good used ones.

I like the ideas of the big rubber washer on the pedals. What I have done is simply cut a chunk of inner tube about 3 inches by 5 inches fro each pedal the cut a slit in the center and put that under the mat or carpet- works very well and very cheap
