mackster Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 i have seen many lighted Hood emblems...on my plymouth there seems to be the letters plymouth in the hood lip....They look as if they would light up...ofcourse mine are pitted and in badshape. so i found one on epay and it came in today. it looks exactly the same but this one has the regular letters and so it got me thinking if they do light up????? Plymouthy Adams Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 I think the plastic is abit more base in nature than translucent..not sure they would light up unless you really boost the wttage and then it wuld likely melt the plastic due to the generated heat.. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Nice idea, but no they don't light up. The plastic letters were only for 1951. The '52's had a solid piece of chromed pot-metal for the hood nameplate. Just one of many ways that the '52 got de-contented compared to the 1951's. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 Yeah, Mack......they went and spoiled all the fun after the P15s with that clear plastic hood ornament. Those solid metal ones just aren't the same. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 26, 2010 Report Posted October 26, 2010 odds of finding these in good shape and of the same "faded" condition in order to have a good match..very very slim and if you do pockets should be very very deep..I always though one could carefully cut these out of reflector material..super glue in place..and insert low profile LEDs in place..never got to the point of playing with the idea futher however... Great Idea though Tim...im wondering if i could do something similar in the future. Quote
