BobT-47P15 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 This ebay seller says she has some 42 Plymouth/Dodge trim pieces. Vicky Fannally in Louisiana. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1942-Plymouth-Front-Fender-Molding-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem53e096740fQQitemZ360250242063QQptZVintageQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories In looking at ads, I see the blackout models have short front fender trim, but regular models have longer ones. Hmmmm. Quote
Reg Evans Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 So far every 42 Dodge I have see had front fender trim like these. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) Yes, I believe it's Plymouth. I seem to have been generalizing about Plymouth and Dodge trim styles.....they do seem to be different. However, here is her copy from the ad regarding the trim..... Marked 1942 Plymouth / Dodge this molding curves as you can see in the picture. It measures 55 7/8" long and you can see from the pictures of the front and rear how it is configured and curved. Only one molding is being auctioned. Check your old molding to be sure this is the right one for you before you bid. This is a New Old Stock Molding but does have buffable shelfwear marks on it from over 60 years of being stored and moved around. HAVE OTHER 1942 MOLDINGS IN MY EBAY STORE! I wonder if it would be possible to modify/shorten a longer piece of trim as a last resort? Edited October 25, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 ..tread carefully..last item I bought must have been on the vehicle used to carry the stuff back and forth for 60 years..'nuff said..! and they are not interchangable between model I don't think either...one good question would be did the early 42's have a lower rear front fender trim similar to the 41 just mounted a tad higher? even in a blurry pictured the rear of the hood with the straight cut was a dead give away...there was no graceful curves blending into the sexy body as the Dodge is truly known for compared to the ugly duckling sister car the Plymouth...(did I just say that?..joking aside a I like them both, have a couple of each..that was for Reg's benefit) Quote
