Russellc Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 Guys did my 46 plymouth business coupe originally come equiped with a rear sway bar? I am getting excessive rear body roll even though the springs are good and shocks are not leaking and still dampen well. Any ideas? Thanks for any advice Russ Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 not that I am aware of but then I cannot speak for all the P15's even the P15's did not get the pan hard rod that was readily availabe on most of the larger Dodge bodies of the same years..even the Dodge so equipped with panhard did not have a rear sway bar.. Robert Horne Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 One of my 38 Coupes had a mounting flange on the rear end housing where a sway bar would have been mounted, but no mounting bracket on the frame. Maybe a sway bar, or a panhard bar, would have been an available option on our cars. Quote
Mark Haymond Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 The old Plymouths had a lot of body roll compared to modern cars. They had bias ply tires that squealed loudly when cornering hard. You will see this in old movies of the era. I plan to put a stiffer sway bar in the front of my 47 and I will be checking hot rod sites to see if anyone has installed a rear sway bar. I don't expect it to ride like a modern car, but I just want to improve it a bit, like you do. Quote
