52B3B108 Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 My condolences also. Does anyone know the make and year of the truck? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 Might be a Diamond T, a Federal, or an International......just guessing. I think all had a nameplate on the side of the hood like that. Quote
Brendan D25 Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 John, please also accept my condolences on the passing of your father.Brendan. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted March 11, 2007 Author Report Posted March 11, 2007 Thank you all for your condlences. Dad was always a Chrysler man and owned a few Plymouths. I don't know what the truck is, I tryed to enlarge the photo but it got too blurry. John Quote
Justin Slingsby Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I am sorry for your losses as well. It is a great pic however. I love old semi trucks and I drove beer truck for a number of years. I think that truck is an Autocar. Quote
David Maxwell Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 ...automotive history as well. Is there a book on early trucks out? If not, the two photos posted here look like a nice start on a great book. I would love to see an entire book dedicated to old semis! Lots and lots of pictures of course! Your dad was part of great breed of early drivers who braved a road system that was not so comfortable or forgiving as the highways of today. Oh, the stories he must have told. Cherrish the memories and share them if you can. Quote
Don Coatney Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Yesterday I spent some time in a truck boneyard in lon gyland New York. Quote
Justin Slingsby Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Hey David two of my personal favorites are American Beer Trucks and Big Rigs of the 1950's. http://www.amazon.com/American-Beer-Trucks-Crestline-Donald/dp/0760304408/ref=sr_1_1/102-6710327-4668902?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173647189&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.com/Big-Rigs-1950s-Crestline-Adams/dp/0760309787/ref=pd_sim_b_4/102-6710327-4668902?ie=UTF8&qid=1173647266&sr=1-1 Amazon has plenty of books on trucks if you just do a search on the topic. But if you don't want to wait for a book in the mail Hanks Truck Pictures is extremely well stocked. http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/ Don, I love old Truck yards. Did you get any more pics of that Crawler? Quote
David Maxwell Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 I will look into this some more! Quote
JohnS48plm Posted March 12, 2007 Author Report Posted March 12, 2007 I got out a magnifing glass and a bright light, my eyes aren't as young as they used to be. It says AutoCar on the hood side. While looking through pictures I found several more of trucks and a truck accident. I haven't scanned them in yet. John Quote
