Plymouthy Adams Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 look to post 44 of this thread..this is one source..they have the most extensive line up I have seen...as for cost..none of them cheap...I never buy the compressor/condenser kit, only the evaporator..the evap kit comes with the heater/AC/Deforst unit with internal 3 speed fan, registers, control panel and ducting..and associated controls and valves...hose kits are also sold seperate or you usually can get them local from whoever is building hoses in your area.. BobT-47P15 Posted July 27, 2010 Report Posted July 27, 2010 Back in the early 1950s, Chrysler Corp offered a trunk mounted unit of air conditioning. The compressor was on the engine, of course, with hoses running to the box in the rear. There were two clear plastic tubes in he back window to put the cool air into the car. And, I think there was an intake grill between them in the package shelf. It doesn't show in this picture, but this 1951 DeSoto hardtop had that air system. Another car I should have kept. Quote
fedoragent Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 This is a little newer version of the swamp cooler, probably from thelate 1950s or the 60s. Used 12 volts. Sat over the center floor hump. You can see some excelsior stuff in this shot....... I have the opportunity to purchase one of these. Does anyone know if these work well? Quote
