Herr Otto
1. Is there a right or wrong way for the crossmembers of the bed floor to face? I have seen a few photos here that show them in different directions. 2. What is the reason for the offset washers and bolts to hold the bed floor to the frame? Thank you, Otto
Merle Coggins
I took a few photos of the cross members as I was disassembling my truck. The cross members are arranged with the open side facing to the rear, except for the rear one, which is boxed in, has the open end forward. As for the large washers, they are for bolting the bed assembly down to the frame through the outer boards. They aren't offset, they should be just large fender washers. pflaming
I put all my crossmembers facing with the rear open. I figured that way they would be 'self cleaning' and accumulate less dirt and grim.
