When I disassembled my car, I noticed that in some places (like where the front fenders bolted to the car) there were little pieces of what looked like tar paper. There was a hole in them where the bolt went through and it seemed they were meant to act as anti-squeak devices. I'm assuming I can use a similar material but I wanted to know if anyone has done this and if so, what they used. I would think thin rubber might be a good substitute.

Body shop supply stores sell anti squeek strips in various widths in rolls. mine was stuck on with some sort of adhesive but between the mounting holes.
