Flatie46 Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 A friend has bought a 49 Plym bus coupe with the intention of rodding it. I was asking what about all the stuff he was taking off and he mentioned the bumpers. They look better than the ones on my 46 Plymouth, would they fit it? If not would they fit my sons 52 Plymouth Cranbrook? Quote
greg g Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Those bumpers were coveted by hottrodders and custom builders since 49. They have been put on many different brands and years of cars. So the answer is yes but probably some modification to the brackets. Might be as simple as drill some new holes in the brackets to some cutting heating and bending of the brackets of the car you are putting them on or if the brackets come with the bumpers, some changes to them to allow fitment of the bumpers ad brackets. Flatie46 Posted March 31, 2010 Author Report Posted March 31, 2010 Thanks Greg, I've heard about them being put on alot of different cars. When he told me he bought rough 49 project car I was willing to bet the bumpers were long gone. When I went to see it and they were still on it and looked ok I couldn't believe he wasn't gonna use them. I don't know how they'll look on mine, I'm leaning toward putting them on the 52. Quote
claybill Posted March 31, 2010 Report Posted March 31, 2010 yes...they will be more at home on the 52!!!! bill Quote
Flatie46 Posted March 31, 2010 Author Report Posted March 31, 2010 Or...hows about on a 33 ? I would have never thought that would have worked so well. Amazing how different the car they came on is to that one and they fit it so good. Quote
Kustom52Mopar Posted April 1, 2010 Report Posted April 1, 2010 I put a set of them on my '52 Cranbrook and it took a bit of work too. They aren't quite wide enough and had to trim out some on the inside of the bumper and hug really tight to the body. Nice look but be ready for some modifications. I can't remeber if I used the '52 brackets or the '49's. I'll be down working on my cars Friday and try to get some close up pictures if you would like. Quote
