Hi;

Do any of you guys know what color the inside of the nose panel on these Pilot House trucks is supposed to be? I am talking about the truck front panel where the headlights mount. I am guessing it should either be black or the color of the truck, red, in my case.

Any help / ideas is always appreciated!

I'm at that point with mine as well. I'm not so sure that area was painted at all. I certainly do not see any residue on mine. My inner fenders were black with some type of tar smeared over. I got it off, but was a lot of work. Once it is all installed, (radiator, hood, engine fan,) not much of it is seen. The area behind my grill is the color of truck.

Correction: The insides of my fenders are truck color (blue). But it looks like the mount for the radiator may not have been painted.

Just a newbie to this site, but not to the product. Confirmed: underside of fenders, back of painted grill parts, etc. all same color as exterior.

Note: Exception to every rule dept: Saw a couple of these with different colors in hidden places. 'Old Jack' the parts manager at the Dodge dealer back home (late 1960s) said not uncommon on the assembly line, either because of damage, order changes, or such a green bed might get mated to a gray cab and repainted, or a red cab to a yellow front clip, and they would just pull it from the line and run it through repaint, and make it whatever topcoat was ordered. Just hearsay, but never knew Jack to lie and makes sense, and explains some of the odd under-colors that folks might see.

"Doesn't know Jack" or maybe he does. Sounds strange, but I guess anything is possible. I could see that the standard black bed could easily be painted to match the cab color, other than that...I'm skeptical.

Interesting Info,

Hank
