RobertKB Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) Just got back from five weeks in Maui. Time went fast and my wife and I had a great time. Not sorry to be back, however, as I sure missed my two little grandsons. Only a few old cars to see but no old Mopars. One Ford:eek: which was a very nice '55 T-Bird. The rest were all old Chevs:eek:. Two Corvairs, one of each generation and both convertibles. '60 El Camino and two '53 Chevs, one a four door and the other a two door hardtop. Both '53's were stock and quite rusty but seemed to run very well. I did see a '46 Chev four door for sale in the Maui News and it claimed it was an original Maui car. Must have been garaged a lot to still be in decent shape. Climate is pretty hard on cars there with the hot sun and salt air. Climate was pretty nice for Robert as I only missed two days swimming in the ocean. Swam with green sea turtles up close and with a reef shark but at a distance out at Molikini crater which has some of the clearest water in the world. I try to get to Maui every second year but am hoping to go again next year. Sure beats a Canadian winter! Edited March 11, 2010 by RobertKB Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 Sounds like a fun time Robert. That's better than the cruise we took in January......it was cold to cool all week. Had to wear a medium weight jacket most of the time. But we still had fun. Quote
Reg Evans Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 I'm jealous Robert. Did you notice any unusually high waves while you were there ? You know...Chilie's 8.8. Quote
RobertKB Posted March 12, 2010 Author Report Posted March 12, 2010 I'm jealous Robert. Did you notice any unusually high waves while you were there ?You know...Chilie's 8.8. They had a very small surge in the main harbour, Kahuluhi, on the island but where we were staying I don't think there was anything. Sirens were sounded starting around six in the morning, coverage on TV was good, police were evacuating the ocean side roads, etc. No panic and everyone was calm. They dodged a bullet this time and considered it a great training activity. I was swimming in the ocean by 4:00 in the afternoon. Quote
