austinsailor Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 I'm sure it varies from state to state, and probably day to day depending on the. Official you talk to, but I'm curious what you end up going through when you put a body of one vehicle on another frame? It's done so often it can't be that bad, but I haven't been involved in one before. Will it end up being the newer frame or older body, or maybe homemade? How do insurance companies handle these? Missouri or Texas info would be especially of interest. Gene G. Quote
oldmopar Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 I do not think many states check the frame # so I would not confuse the local dmv people with any details and just give then the minimum information which would be the vin/serial # on the tag. Where I am in NJ all you do is bring in a title and they give you a new one. Quote
austinsailor Posted March 2, 2010 Author Report Posted March 2, 2010 I guess, since the most obvious thing would be the body, a panel body/Durango frame would be just a panel. Is that how most of you do it? Quote
greg g Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) As long as it is recognizable as what it is being registered as NY is not to particular. Especially if you have reciepts. So a 30 something is still a 30 something even it is mounted on a newer frame. Have been going by body serial number for a long time, the rest is replacable parts. buds truck Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 My 53 is titled in Washington as a 53 and I am not telling them it sits on a Dakota frame. They didn't ask when I registered it and I'm not sayin a word... Quote
HanksB3B Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Anyone know where there might be pictures of a Dakota Frame. If anyone knows of pictures showing how a Pilothouse is fitted to the frame that would be great too. Thanks, Hank Quote
