Origin of Mopar name

Anyone know what year Chrysler Products began using the word Mopar?

I don't know the answer to that question. However, I've seen old parts boxes from the 30's and up. So they must have been using the Mopar label at least that long.

Here there is an auto parts supplier called Motor parts Central. They saved their store sign from the 40's that said MOPAR. Cool looking sign. The family at one time had a few Chrysler dealerships around here. Did Chrysler have their own parts distributers? Or franchises? eric

Not sure the date MoPar came into being..however it is short for Motor Parts.. ie the combination of capital and little letters.. lile the old saying

According to the site on this link the name Mopar started in 1937 when they wanted to come up with a name for their Anti Freeze.

So I guess that's when the Mopar name came to be.

When I was a kid Chrysler's auto accessory division was called Motor Parts and Equipment. I believe it was actually people like us that coined the acronim MoPar over the years.
