55 Fargo Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 The foamless door panels look really good but, I gotta have foam as I am a habitual door elbower...I guess my proximity alarm just doesn't work like it used to. 1/4 inch foam is an excellent chioce for door, kick panels, and package tray, at leastit worked well for me.........Fred Quote
Young Ed Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 Fred what kinda foam is this? Does it come in a sheet or a roll or? Quote
Fireball Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 No foam between my plastic door panel and fake leather either, only a "support" fabric as they call it, to make sewing easier on vinyl. Then on the kickpanels and rear I did use 1/2" foam. Well not actually foam but kinda cotton candy looking white stuff that the upholsterers use. I just wanted to keep the doors thin because of handles, then on the other hand I thought it might look too hard if theres no thickness and insulation anywhere. Quote
p24-1953 Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 i used foam and lost the stainless devider. went with a silver "tubing" to devide the two colors.... Quote
Young Ed Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 I was planning to use foam but I think I like the look of the no foam better. Now how does one hide the tops of the clips if there isnt foam in there. Quote
Fireball Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 My cliphats were really thin, you won't see them even you know their existence. Quote
P-12 Tommy Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 Finally scored some material I like. A Joanns is moving here and they are clearancing out the old store. Got a little over 12y of a dark grey for $20. Got the big can of 3m super spray adhesive. My 2 items I'm unclear on at the moment. What filler goes between the panel and the material and how to reuse the chrome strip at the bottom. Boy, You got lucky on the 12y for $20.00. I called my local JoAnns and they want $7.00 a yard for the same dark grey. Is that an OK price or does that suck?Tom Quote
Young Ed Posted February 23, 2010 Author Report Posted February 23, 2010 Thats what the reg price was of the stuff I got. But the JoAnns I went to was moving to a new location so it was 75% off Quote

55 Fargo Posted February 23, 2010 Report Posted February 23, 2010 The stuff I bought is a lighter density, and comes in a 54 inch roll I believe, nice stuff, easy to work with.......Fred Quote

BTW......The lady at the store told me the dark grey was like a velour type material. Sounds kinda cool.Tom Quote
