By now most of you have heard about one of the Captains on the Deadliest Catch TV show. I just would like to pay a little tribute to a man who to me was a true American.

Captain Phil Harris showed me that life is what you make of it and he presented that by being such a wonderful person to his children, life and work.

We all go through life in certain manners and we all have our up and downs. To me Mr. Harris had the zest for being his own person but also seem to have a great love for his children. Life is so short and what more can we do but hope and pray that our children will grow up right and be fine honest Americans.

Phil god took you to soon (53 years) and you will be mist by many and I thank god for letting me part of your life even if it was just watching your true presentation on what a true American can do with life.

May god be with Captain and may a breeze be in your sails -Jon

i didnt hear about this, what happened?

He past away from a stroke that he had last week. Sad because he looked to be a real human being and left two young men behind.

After his blood clot going through his lungs last year he was recovering and he had a stroke while offloading in port, he has been in a coma for the past couple of weeks. RIP Capt. Phill

I am sure his son's will keep his boat going. He was a great guy.

This will certainly make for an interesting season of 'Deadliest Catch'. I dont think the boys had enough biz sense yet to run the boat,,nor the fishing sense of where and when. They were too busy spending daddies money yet!!

Was a real neat family dynamics tho,,,we will surely miss him. And only wish he could have stayed longer. He lead a pretty hard life!! Lived mainly on cigarettes, caffeine and junk foods!! but he did have an incredible wake up call last year with the blood clot --so that was good ,,,as it wasnt without warning. And he got to tell the boys what his thoughts and plans were. They will be GOOD kids,dont get me wrong,,just a bit of growing yet to do!!!

Sad when a tough, no nonsense hard workin' man is taken.

His work ethic and drive is an example of something sorely needed these days.

I'll be surprised if the kids continue for long. They aren't near ready mentally for the sacrifices working that boat will require.
