windsor8 Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Working on my Dodge winter to do list. One thing on it is to refit the clock with a battery quarts works since I have gone to a 12 volt system. Don't worry I didn't molest my nice original clock. I got a parts clock to do the conversion on. Something I was wondering about when I got the parts clock apart was why it was painted green inside? I was also amazed at the detail in the old clock and its brass movement. Quote
Frank Elder Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 It is probably zinc chromate primer, it protects aluminum from corrosion. Quote
busycoupe Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 I think the green coloring is so the instruments will have a soft green glow at night. The bulbs aren't tinted in the instruments. Quote
