I remember kids in middle school stealing hood ornaments(called them hoodies I believe) the gold caddilac ones were the most popular. Then the silver ones after that. My best friend and I had a good laugh back then when someone attempted and failed to steal the ornament off their fairmount station wagon.
I remember in the 90's I had a '76 Cordoba and somebody stole mine twice. I put a stick in the hole after that. lol

I used to live close to some theives that would steal anything that wasn't nailed down. I got em good once. I mowed the yard and left an old ratty 5 gal gas can near the road that was a mixture, 1 gal gas,2 gal water 1lb sugar. Sure enough next day can was gone and I saw there car parked on the side of the road hood up.

Great story! They got their just desserts, sugar and all!:P

Uncle-Pekka, BTW.....Does your Chrysler have the search tune radio? If you do, you'll have a switch on the floor next to the highbeam switch. They are identical looking switches. That makes the radio tune all by itself! Check it out.

That is a classic. I've never thought of it. No thief would ever pause before stealing gasoline and think, "Maybe this gas isn't pure." I haven't had anything stolen from my yard but I'm tempted to pull that trick just to get at anyone who WOULD steal.

According to Click & Clack , Gas doesn't mix with sugar , it can just be cleaned out . But sugar DOES mix with water .

Hi Tom,

Unfortunately the radio is not a search tune model. It is a factory mounted AM/FM Unit with 8-track tape. I bought me some 8-track casettes just to test it: Chicago, Allman Brothers, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Led Zeppelin. Sound quality is not near as good as today's units. I probably will up-date the speakers in summer. They are all hidden under panels, thus it does not change the appearance. Problem is, that AC unit takes all the room beneath dash board, thus there is no good place to hide a modern CD/MP3 player in the car.

I may mount it removable on front floor...

Wow! Should I bought that too to have a matching pair?

4D HT for family pick nick trips and the 2D HT for an intimate cruise with Unkka's old lady...?

I spent several years herding around a '76 Newport Custom. If I can't say anything nice about them, I won't say anything at all. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Except that shortly after that, Chrysler almost went out of business, and I know why.

A friend has a 62 Corvette and his wife gave him a remotely operated unit that uses all of the modern devices. If you want to play Cd's you have to have a multi Cd changer loaded with the cd's you want to listen to. It is operated with a fob much like a key fob with buttons for the different functions. The units can be located any place within the car and operated by fob, volume and channel and any other function that you have in your modern electronic receiver.
