Norm's Coupe Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Tim, Here is the hood ornament you posted the other day. It is an after market item. Check out this link. They have a couple like this on the site. http://www.truckcustomizers.com/products/-BM-KE/G4GEM1.FR1.html Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Norm..that particular lady has clothes on and her hair is not flowing in the wind above her head. I found a website that had about 15 nude ladies with different poses and such but not qite the same..this little figurine is also only 3 1/2 inches tall, staggered/offset bolts on the base to allow installation in one position only..that is what makes me believe it is a radiator cap ornament. Appreciate you trying..still do not and may never really know its origins. Original posted picture.. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=1787 Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 5, 2007 Author Report Posted February 5, 2007 Sorry Tim. I had lost where that picture was on the forum. I really wasn't searching the net for it. Found that hood ornament site on a link from a post David Maxwell made about the P15 in the barn. I can see now it is not the same ornament. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Hey at least you were thinking about it...upon close inspection it is a bit detailed for its size..anatomically correct should I say. Its a novelty I guess..would fit in very well with the curio's and such from last weeks novelty and trinkets thread. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted February 5, 2007 Author Report Posted February 5, 2007 Some hood ornaments are just hard to pin down. Years ago there were so many different types of custom ornaments, who knows which was really original. Ran into a guy who deals in hood ornaments only at a large swap meet several years ago. He had one ornament he was asking about $200 for. However, everyone who stopped at his booth, he would ask what it was for. Even he didn't know what it fit and he had the books. I doubt that your's fits into the bicycle category with it's design. However, some of the custom ornaments were originally for bicycles and/or cars. Like the Superman hood ornament. Those can really get costly. Saw a Superman ornament go on ebay a couple of years ago for over $3,000. Quote
FMSPEED49 Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Could it be off the top of an old trophy? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 anything is possible..who really knows...but most of the trophy stuff I have seen is single screw base..this is offset dual mount for directional mounting... Quote
RobertKB Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 I think it is from a Humpmobile, whoops I mean Hupmobile. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Wellll, Tim....you could possibly trade it for one like the first one. Or perhaps the famous flying pig. Does this lady (3rd item) look anywhere close? Last one is described as a nude lady by the seller. Link to ad of seller. http://www.truckcustomizers.com/category/-BM-KE.html Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 6, 2007 Report Posted February 6, 2007 Bob..that third one with the flowing hair..if she be upright that would be very close...I did find a rather endowed nude riding on a pig of all things..gee..something for everyone out there..you have but to look. Quote
